HiFier Fantasia User Manual:

PCI main card

DVI port: please use attached DVI cable to connect PCI main card and break out box. (*)

Note*: Both DVI ports on PCI main card and break out box are designed specifically for HIFIER only; as well as the connector pin definition is entirely different from the LCD monitor and VGA card. The DVI ports and DVI cable in the package are connecting protected, in other words, do NOT intend to use attached DVI cable to connect LCD monitor and VGA card or use regular DVI cable to connect HIFIER PCI main card and break out box. Please do NOT connect devices incorrectly by force and make sure to follow our instruction stated above. Product malfunction/ damage caused by improper usage are beyond our warranty service.

Break out box

Front panel

  1. Power: Power switch and LED indicator. Power switch controls the power supply of break out box analog circuit. When the power is on, the blue LED above the switch will light up. When it is off (LED goes out), all of those analog inputs and outputs will be disabled, and however, the S/PDIF outputs will continue to work if break out box is connected with PC. In stand-alone mode, S/PDIF output will NOT work whether or not the power is on or off.

  2. Mute: Instant mute button and indicate LED. Mute Line Out signal won’t affect the headphones output signal. When pressing the Mute button, the blue LED above the button will light up and the signal from Line Out will be muted. The LED will go out and Line Out sends out signal when that button is released.

  3. Headphone: Headphone connectors and volume control knobs. HIFIER features 2 stereo headphone outputs and volume control knobs. Each headphone output corresponds to its own volume control knob.

  4. Microphone: Microphone connectors and control knobs. HIFIER features 2 microphone outputs and control knobs. Each microphone input has its own control knob. HIFIER does not provide extra power for microphone. ( Users have to use dynamic microphone or self-powered condenser microphone) The input signal of microphone will be copied into right and left channels automatically.

  5. Monitor: Microphone hardware monitoring and LED indicator. This will control whether the microphone input signal comes out from Line Out and Headphone out directly or not. When pressing down this button, hardware monitoring function will be activated and the blue LED above the button will light up. We recommend to mute microphone input playback in the software control panel if HIFIER is connected to PC.

  6. PC / AUX: Sound source switching button and LED indicator. When pressing down this button, the sound coming into break out box will be from AUX In on the rear panel of break out box. In the mean time the blue LED will light up continuously. When this button is released, all of the signals will come from PC through the DVI cable, and LED goes out. There is one exception, the S/PDIF out will not be affected by this button. In other words, no matter this button is pressed or not the source of S/PDIF Out always comes from PC while connected with PC and AUX In and S/PDIF out can be playback at the same time..

Rear panel

    • S/PDIF Out: Digital signal output connectors. The signal playback in PC can be sent out to external decoder in digital form through these two S/PDIF outputs. HIFIER features both coaxial and optical connectors in order to connect different external equipments. S/PDIF Out also supports transferring digital non-audio signal. Take AC3 and DTS signal for example, when non-audio signal appears, you have to use the software player to support the signal you want such as PowerDVD in the past. These two connections are not available when HIFIER is on stand-alone mode.

    • Line Out: Line level analog signal output connectors. The signal from selected sound source is sent to external equipments (for example, amplifier) in analog type through these two connectors. User can connect to other equipment’s Line In from here. When you connect to speaker directly, the speaker must be active. Or you have to connect to amplifier first before connecting to passive speakers.

    • AUX In: Auxiliary input. PC / Aux In only work when the front panel button is pressed down. Any kind of line level signal can be sent to Aux In. However, signal comes into HIFIER from AUX In won’t be converted into digital form, and won’t be sent to PC either. All of the signal from AUX In will be delivered to Line Out and Headphone out directly.

    • Cable Connector: Please use the attached DVI cable to connect PCI main card.

    • AC In: External power input. Only use attached power adapter as power supply when it is under stand-alone mode. Warranty does not cover any damage made by users who do not follow the instruction.
